If I were solely looking at the full-time job market, I would be very concerned. I know several people who have been out of work for more than 6 months and it doesn't appear to be getting better. They can submit a resume and cover letter to a position that was posted within the past 3-4 hours, and 50 people have already replied. 100+ applicants before 8 hours pass. Unless you tailor your resume specifically to each job and thoroughly review it to make sure it is likely to get through ATS filters, chances are slim to none for getting an interview.

But I have been working in AI for over 2 years and have confidence in my prompting, "vibe" coding and marketing, agent building, and MCP skills that I believe there a ton of opportunities as long as I can find the right sources and processes to track those leads down. Since we're having no luck with the traditional career path in this household, I'm going to rely on freelance opportunities. I don't think there's much of a choice. I mean I like McDonald's and everything, but I don't think the kids want a 58-year-old surly guy flipping burgers with them 😀

AI has created opportunity to scale and personalize, but also makes me feel much less secure long term.
